💸📞€65k jobs, Vodafone Vs Eir, LinkedIn Ire

Oi oi!

Congratulations to everyone who got accepted to ACA in the last two weeks.

Seeing someone hasn’t posted on LinkedIn in a while would peak your interest and then the second line says “I’m delighted to announce my admission to the Chartered Accountants while sipping a flat white on my 3 month SE Asia career break……”

🤑💰Here's 2 new top (top) PQE 0 jobs this week

Closing Date: 3rd of July*

This is 80% Vodafone. It’s amazing how knowing the company makes a job so much more appealing. I’m assuming it is because the description sounded like something I’ve heard before Ireland rugby matches and their head offices are in Leopardstown.

The cash is strong here so they’re looking for someone good (not always the case). The craic here is that fixed term contracts get paid more money to compensate you for the lack of security (banks would lol at 1yr contracts for mortgages etc).

When you see lines in job descriptions like Ability to communicate and adapt communication style to a wide variety of  stakeholders.” it means you need to be sound and relatively easy to be around. You do things like come to work on time (not late), send normal emails (not passive aggressive) and you generally try your best 85% of the time. If you did those 3 things consistently I think you’d be in the top 20% of chartered accountants. Most are either horrific with being late, are so arrogant they send crazy self-inflated emails non stop or they just can’t motivate themselves. Well this is all very positive😂

I’d chance my arm here if you’re in the abyss out of your contract and wondering what’s best.

Closing Date: 30th of June*

Again I’m guessing this is Eir. Well between myself and chatGPT we think it is anyway. I picked this job because of the perks.

€65k, bonus, hybrid work, flexible hours, pension, 23 days plus 3 charity days, access to a load of stuff and a free phone😂

As part of your journey through the ACA world, you’ll need to develop the skills to decipher what job descriptions are saying, as to get a read about what a potential interviewer may want.

Let’s go through a few:

  • “You possess exceptional organisational skills and a relentless drive for process optimisation”

If you’ve worked in Big 4 you have this because you’ve survived a to-list with over 20 items plus two juniors who are addicted to TicTok in the bathroom for 45mins..

  • “You excel at building rapport and effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.”

ie you’re not weird and you generally ask other people questions at least once a day. Key questions would be “hi how are you” and “How was your weekend?” You’d be surprised how many people don’t do that.

  • “You possess a natural storyteller's ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.”

You’re not boring and won’t drone on and on about something because you love your own voice.
